Through Generations is a long-term photographic project documenting families in the United Kingdom where the same profession has been passed down through three generations — grandparents, parents, and children.
At its core, this project is about work as inheritance.
Not wealth, not status — but skill, discipline, routine, pride, and identity.
This is my first generational family - a builder family.
This photograph is the beginning of a long-term project exploring families where work is passed down through generations.
Three generations. One trade.
Grandfather, father, son — all builders.
Different eras, the same craft.
Short video of a builder family.
About the Photographer
I am an award-winning Manchester portrait photographer and visual storyteller dedicated to transforming fleeting moments into powerful, timeless legacies. With a background in Art History from Lithuania and training at the world-renowned Spéos Photographic Institute, I blend fine-art expertise with intuitive direction to capture the authentic strength, beauty, and emotional depth of my subjects.
My passion lies in bridging connections across time—celebrating female empowerment, motherhood, and family bonds, while preserving the essence of identity for future generations to cherish. My deeply impactful work also extends into socially engaged photography; I hold an MA from the University of Salford, where my acclaimed projects have documented social isolation and the resilient lives of older generations.
Past Project ALONE
ALONE project focussed on elderly individuals living on their own in the Manchester area, who faced months of isolation and uncertainty during the Covid pandemic lockdowns.
This book is about the project ‘Alone’ which concentrates on the older (60's and above) generation and their situation of living alone.
All participants were sent by post a disposable camera with 27 frames. In these 27 frames they were asked to show their daily life.
The questions they were asked. What do you do? What do you eat? How do you occupy your time? Is there anything else that cheers your life up?
It was not important if participants were new to photography. All that mattered was just their expression in the photographs of how they felt. What was crucial was the participants illustrating their daily life whilst being on their own.
